Out of Darkness

1987 - 1991

My concept of the studio/stage expanded during a 1987 summer residency at The MacDowell Colony in Peterborough, New Hampshire. While there, I began to photograph outdoors at night, projecting images onto the landscape. In using projected imagery, I am intrigued by how the slides create a visual structure as well as supply emotional, psychological, narrative, and cultural content. [view series]

Thank you to The MacDowell Colony, Yaddo, and The Djerassi Foundation. If it weren't for my artist residencies, this project would not have been possible.
