In 1996, I started a free high school program at NYU Tisch School of the Arts Photography & Imaging. At that time, art classes in the public schools were practically non existent. I had taken my first photography class in high school and it changed my life. I am very proud of the program that I have developed which has morphed into Future Imagemakers, which I continue to direct. I had the pleasure of being the lead teacher in 2020.
Future Imagemakers Manifesto:
We at NYU Tisch Future Imagemakers are passionate about image-making, self-expression, and social justice. We believe in the power of photography as a means to reflect on our surroundings and lives, to celebrate diversity and intersectionality, and to address racism, gender discrimination and all forms of intolerance. We seek to expand boundaries and learn from each other. Follow @futureimagemakers on Instagram and Facebook.
